The art of sculpting requires the finely tuned ability to visualize and the craftsmanship to bring forth the vision in the chosen medium. The same skills used by W. D. Bosworth Woodworking & Sculpture to create our original sculptures are used in creating commissioned pieces of enduring beauty. Our artists work in several mediums including, wood, fiberglass, bronze, brass, and aluminum.
The sculptures below are part of the Endangered Marine Mammal Series sponsored by the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Lowcountry. This series created and used to educate children on the importance of the environment and its effect on our marine life is now available for sale or lease. Please call for a price quote.

The Humpback Whale Tail Exhibit
Ambient Humpback whale songs fill the air as you step up to this dramatic exhibit. To achieve the most naturalistic appearance, the Tail is constructed of fiberglass; purple variegated slate accents the front of the base. An internal pump regulates the recirculating water. For permanent installations, the base can be customized to suit its environment. The water storage and platform, for example, could be adapted to fit flush with the floor or to be positioned near a pool.
The tail stands 8 feet 4 inches and the flukes span 15 feet. The triangular base measures 19 feet at the rear and 16 ½ feet on each side.

Our baby Manatee is sculpted on its back, a very vulnerable position assumed during relaxation and sunning. The highest grade figured tiger maple was used to shape the 7-½ foot baby Manatee.
